Free gate barrier adalah gate barrier yang mempunyai sensor untuk mendeteksi setiap orang yang masuk. Jika seseorang masuk ke gate tsb tanpa di otorisasi atau di approvlal, maka secara otomatis sayapnya akan keluar menghalangi orang tsb masuk. Dalam keadaan normal, maka sayap tsb tidak terlihat, dan setiap orang yang masuk harus menggunakan kartu. Jika kartu tsb ditolak, maka otomatis saya akan keluar. Atau jika sensor mendetek seseorang masuk tanpa menggunakan kartu, maka sayap akan keluar menghalangi orang tsb masuk. Dengan demikian, maka free gate barrier ini bisa digunakan untuk orang lalu lalang yang tingkat frekwensinya sangat tinggi.
